Do you dare disturb the universe?

Jerry has a poster in his locker, like most boys at Trinity do, that says, "Do I dare disturb the universe?" This poster, for some reason, stuck out to him and is the one he chose to put in his locker. However, the quote is a little more significant that Jerry originally realized. Answer the following in complete sentences: How does Jerry disturb the universe within the novel? How would you, given the opportunity, disturb our school's universe? Remember: I am reading these and will know exactly who takes their ideas and puts them into play. :)

Please complete this post no later than Wednesday evening.

  2. Jerry disturbs the universe, which is the order and calm at Trinity, when he constantly refuses to sell chocolates. Not only does Jerry disturb Brother Leon but also the Vigils and the entire Trinity student and teacher body.

To disturb Central's universe I could refuse to walk the quad at lunch. But, I don't plan on doing that.

  4. Jerry disturb's the universe by not selling chocolates and standing up to the vigils. Once a quiet student and now one that threatens the vigils and the right for their secret society to survive. Jerry stands up to Brother Leon who is the top teacher at Trinty. This causes an uproar between his fellow students and makes an impact or disturbing trinity. I would disturb the universe by arriving late to school, everyday of the school year.

  6. Jerry disturbs Trinity's universe because he won't sell the chocolates, he has ruined Bro. Leon's goals, and he has stood up to the Vigils, which makes them unhappy, and partially ruins their dominance over the student body.

I would disturb Central's universe by not following any of the rules and regulations (showing up late everyday, dressing down, and not going attending a majority of my classes.)

  8. Trinity's universe is disturbed when Jerry acts out against the all-powerful Vigils, and when he repeatedly refuses to sell the chocolates that Trinity holds so dear. In order to disturb Central's universe I would have to do something drastic, break a tradition that central has held. One tradition could be rather than walking the quad in the right direction, walk in the opposite direction or don't walk at all. Another way could be defying those people in authority.

  9. The universe is disturbed when Jerry continues to refuse selling the chocolates. The students are the ones who r being disturbed. I'd disturb Central's Universe by doing none of my homework.

  10. Jerry disturbs the universe by refusing to sell chocolates. He is rebellious and therefore is ruining Trinity's fundraiser. If I was given the opportunity to disturb Central's universe, I would refuse to do my homework and study for tests. I would revolt against the teachers and would make their lives miserable. I would also play pranks on them and would try to not get anything accomplished school-wise.

  12. In the novel, Jerry disturbs the school (universe) bynot participating in the school's anual chocolate sale. He corupts the whole system that both the Vigil's and Br. Leon have planned out for the sale.

If I had an oppurunity to disturb the universe at Central Catholic, I would do something like not wearing a tie or other dress code vialations, not walking the quad, showing up for class late, something along those lines and that would bring up conversations about as Jerry does in the story.

  13. Jerry disturbs the universe by not following regular routine. When the man tells him he is a square boy he makes a small change in his life by not complying with one rule and it turns out to be the main focal point of the entire novel.

If I had to disturd Central's universe in some manner, I would probably just act like a vegetable. By not talking, not responding, no emotions, just kind of exist and at the same time not.

  15. Not selling the chocolates is Jerrys way of disturbing the universe. In the book the universe is Trinitys strict system of selling chocolates as a fundrasier.

In order to disturb centrals universe I would wear my tie in a bow around my head. Also I would skip the quad gaily and in reverse. (But then the universe might explode...)

  18. Jerry disrupts the "universe" of Trinity by not selling chocolates for the fundrasier. Jerry also disturbs the universe by going against the Vigils. If I were to disturb the "universe" of Central, I would refuse to do Miss Quinn's homework because it would defy the school's policy of completing homework.

  19. Trinity is like the universe. Jerry disturbs it by not participating in the chocolate sales at his school. An example of disturbing Central would be something like not following any class rules or not dressing properly.

  20. Jerry doesn't "follow the crowd" and refuses to sell the chocolates. He goes by his word, even if the result is disrespect. Jerry seems not to be intimidated and has stuck up for himself and all the other students who are not selling chocolates. Jerry has also stuck up to the Vigils and Bro. Leon.Jerry breaks the "universe" or "tradition" at Trinity, by not participating in the Chocolates.

If I were to disturb Centrals "universe" i would act with no respect towards by friends or teachers. I would disobey the dress code, and leave when i wanted to leave.

  21. Jerry disturbs the universe, meaning Trinity by refusing to sell chocolates. He also, lashes out at Brother Leon and takes a stand and never gives in even after all the threats and harassment he receives.

If I were to disturb Central, I think I would use my cellphone whenever I felt like it in any class, at any time.

  22. Jerry disturbs the universe by being unique and not doing the same thing all the other Trinity students are doing. Like the universe, Trinity has somewhat of a balance and the students are expected to act a certain way.
By not selling the chocolates, which had been a proud school tradition, Jerry is offsetting the perfect balance of things at Trinity.

If I were to disturb Central, I would not chew gum during class, refuse to dress in a shirt and tie, and throw things at people.

Jerry disturbs the universe within his own universe. At Trinity it's expected that everyone sells chocolate, they are not forced to but its just something everyone does. It would be like if one day i started turning the lights off when i walked in the classroom. That would disturb the teacher and everyone in the room.
